pine, oak, bluestone, deer antlers - 38" x 48” x 12”
Beams of deeply weathered pine and oak create a suspended horizon line, supporting a landscape of mountains above and tangled roots below. The mountains are slabs of bluestone, a material that is also often used for creating flagstone walking paths. Beneath, the “roots” are inverted deer antlers, shed in the annual cycle of migration and growth. These very different materials reflect and counterbalance one another in an evocative meditation on what is ephemeral, and what endures.
